The Board of Directors governs the Tamil Nadu Discharged Prisoners Aid Society (TNDPAS), providing strategic leadership and oversight. The current Board members are:

The Board members bring diverse expertise in prison administration, social welfare, and public service to guide the Company’s mission of prisoner rehabilitation and reintegration.
Central Committee:
Tamil Nadu Prisoners Welfare Council (TNPWC) is supported by a Central Committee comprising 30 distinguished members, including professionals and eminent personalities from corrections, mental health, social welfare, law, academia, and community development.
A significant portion of the committee members are nominated by the Government of Tamil Nadu, reflecting the strong collaboration between TNDPAS and the State Government in prisoner rehabilitation and reintegration.
Additionally, Ex-Officio members, including senior Police officials and other relevant experts, are invited by the Society’s leadership to join the Central Committee based on their expertise and contribution to the Society’s goals. These invitees bring valuable perspectives and enhance the committee’s advisory functions.
The Central Committee functions in an advisory capacity, offering expert guidance, policy recommendations, and strategic insights to the Board of Directors and Management. It meets periodically to review programs, foster cross-sector partnerships, and ensure alignment with best practices and State policies.
Members of General Body :
TNPWC has General Body consisting of two categories of Membership:
- Life Members:
- Individuals who become permanent members of the Company by paying a one-time life membership fee.
- Life Members enjoy full rights, including voting and eligibility to hold office or serve on Committees.
- Ordinary Members:
- Individuals who join by paying an annual subscription fee.
- Ordinary Members have voting rights during their membership term and may participate in the Company’s activities but must renew membership annually.
Membership fee: Membership Fee and related terms are governed by the Company’s byelaws and may be revised by the Board of Directors from time to time.
Membership Attendance and Termination:
Members of the Company shall maintain active participation in its activities and meetings.
Loss of Membership:
Any member who fails to attend three consecutive meetings without prior apology or valid reason shall be deemed to have forfeited their membership. Such forfeiture will be subject to confirmation by the Board of Directors, who may consider reinstatement requests on a case-by-case basis.
This provision ensures active engagement and accountability among members to further the Company’s objectives effectively.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Financial -Aid Distribution to Released Prisoners
- Aid Distribution by Hon’ble Chief Minister (2023):
On May 15, 2023, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M. K. Stalin, participated in a significant aid distribution event organized by the Tamil Nadu Prisoners Welfare Council (TNPWC). During this event, financial assistance was provided to released prisoners to support their reintegration into society. The Chief Minister’s involvement underscored the government’s commitment to the welfare and rehabilitation of former inmates.
- Aid Distribution by Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister (2025):
In 2025, the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, presided over another aid distribution ceremony hosted by TNPWC. This event focused on extending support to released prisoners, emphasizing the government’s ongoing efforts to facilitate their successful reintegration into the community. The Deputy Chief Minister’s participation highlighted the state’s dedication to the welfare of its citizens, particularly those seeking a fresh start after incarceration.
